Carved with mazes of runes and shapes, Volbos is an atypical Stone Giant. Wandering the Ashen Steppes, he has seen the horrors that have crawled up from the depths and faced them down time and time again. Drawn to the Delve by himself, the stone giant was forced to adapt to the chaotic realm, developing his previously unknown innate psychic powers into martial brutality. Driven to the Steppes by his sheer size and oddity of his power, Volbos was forced to reckon with the aberrations that seemed to have perpetually dwelt beneath the area. Surprisingly easy-going, he sees this as the ultimate destiny one his people can achieve; an unending battle against an unstoppable foe. Seeing the aberrant creatures as his only worthy enemies, he is more than eager to assist any travelers or residents of the Steppes against them; he is even able to bend his psionic abilities to restore those that have fallen prey to maddening energies.
Volbos is a downright massive Stone Giant, standing almost 18 feet tall. His rocky grey skin is pocked with pebbles and small tribal runes that he has carved into himself. He has also ceremoniously embedded a half dozen fist sized diamonds about his face. The giant has adorned himself in a variety of armor carved from various mineral deposits that he has found throughout the Steppes, carving them to fit his needs and using rope and wood to connect them. Various bizarrely shaped skulls and bones adorn his armor, on particularly massive elongated skull with a single eye socket adorns his right shoulder. Despite the nature of the foes he fights, Volbos is always quick to smile and wade in; his craggy body deflecting most weapons and magic alone.
Volbos is a true power in the Ashen Steppes, much to the chagrin of the dark powers that reside there, though he is not really aware of this. In fact, he does not really know he is in the Delve, he truly thinks that he is in an eternal battleground intended for great warriors. For some reason, aberrant entities are drawn to the Steppes, and often are unfortunate enough to encounter and underestimate the giant. Some think that there is a horrid font of power that draws the creatures there while others assume some powerful entity lures them there to be rid of them. Either way, Volbos does not care, he gets his eternal battle and is content.
